Tazewell County Underground Railroad Conductor Recognition Event And First-Ever Juneteenth Celebration

Honoring the Historical Legacy of Underground Railroad Conductors

Samuel Woodrow, Hugh Woodrow, William Woodrow, and John Sommers.

Event Will Be Held at Woodrow Cemetery in South Pekin.

An Estimated 800 Enslaved Individuals Passed Through Tazewell County via the Underground Railroad On Their Pathway To Freedom. This Event Will Honor the Heroic Efforts of These Tremont Area Residents To Make This Possible.
