The Tazewell County Genealogical & Historical Society board consists of the elected officers, four elected at-large board members, and the immediate past president. (Article V of TCGHS ByLaws). 

All elected officers serve a one-year term except at-large board members who serve a two-year term.  No officer or director may serve more than two consecutive terms in the same office (Article VII of TCGHS ByLaws).

The board has general supervision of the Society between regular meetings, makes recommendations to the Society membership, and performs all other duties as specified by actions of the Society.

Standing Committees are defined in Article VII of the TCGHS Bylaws—chairpersons and members must be presented by the President to the Society board for approval.  Ad Hoc Committees are created and appointed by the President.
